Bill
Murphy, MD
Dr. Bill Murphy is a San Antonio native
and graduated from Lee High School before moving up I-35
to attend the University of Texas in 1971. He graduated
with a degree in Pharmacy and worked as a pharmacist while
attending medical school at UT Southwestern medical school
in Dallas. Upon graduation in 1980, he moved back to San
Antonio for an internship in Internal Medicine and specialty
training in Anesthesiology. He has been in private practice
in San Antonio since 1983.
He is board certified in Anesthesiology with a Subspecialty
Certification in Pain Management. He is a partner in Consultants
in Pain Medicine and Hill Country Pain Associates, serves
on various boards, and has been instrumental in taking the
care of pain patients to rural areas around San Antonio.
Dr. Murphy has been married to his high school sweetheart
for 33 years and they have 3 children. His wife, Tisa, works
with him in his practice. She has specialized in developing
the hill country locations and educating patients and doctors
about what is available for people with chronic pain. Dr.
Murphy loves outdoor activities; he is an avid cyclist,
golfer, gardener, and loves spending time in the Caribbean.
Dr. Murphy feels that practicing medicine and helping patients
is not a job, it is a privilege. He penned the mantra for
his practice several years ago, “Relieving Pain, Restoring
Hope”.
This is the philosophy that is the basis for every decision
that he and his staff make for their patients.
JUSTIN
J. VIGIL, MD
Dr. Justin Vigil was born and raised in Santa
Fe, New Mexico. His education background is as follows:
St. Mary’s University San Antonio, Texas
1990-1994
University of New Mexico School of Medicine 1994-1998
Anesthesiology Residency was at the University Of New Mexico
School Of Medicine from 1998-2002. He then completed a Pain
Fellowship at University of Texas Health Science Center
at San Antonio from 2002-2003.
He began a successful anesthesiology
practice with Star Anesthesia in San Antonio in 2003. He
then made the decision to devote his practice solely to
pain management and joined Dr. Bill Murphy’s practice. They
formed Hill Country Pain Associates in 2005 as a division
of Consultants in Pain Medicine. Dr. Vigil’s commitment
to caring for patients in the hill country allowed the opening
of the Fredricksburg and Boerne locations for the practice.
He has a special interest in the technique of radiofrequency
ablation, and performs many diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
He is board certified in Anesthesiology with a Subspecialty
Certification in Pain Management.
His wife, Elizabeth, is a teacher, and they have four children.
He is committed to education and serves as School Board
president at his children’s school. He is also involved
in his children’s activities and he coaches football, basketball
and soccer.
His hobbies are diverse and include mountain biking, music,
and reading. However, his greatest joy is spending time
with his family.
